Applications

YC-TCC is an antimicrobial agent with wide activity against Gram-positive bacteria, particularly suitable for application in deodorant soaps and other products such as sticks, roll-ons, creams and lotions when an antibacterial activity is required.

An increasing number of bar and liquid soaps, both for household and institutional use, contains bacteriostatic agents. These products prevent the proliferation of resident and transient skin flora, particularly of the dangerous staphylococci. Such bacteria, besides acting on perspiration to give unpleasant body odours, are a common cause for skin diseases.

YC-TCC shows stability in the formulation, compatibility with other ingredients, high effectiveness against the main skin bacteria, substantivity to skin and toxicological harmlessness.

Use

YC-TCC should be dispersed homogenously into the formulation in order to achieve a uniform activity and to avoid in bar soaps interaction with colour and fragrance.

Its level of inclusion is generally 0.2-2% calculated on the finished product.

YC-TCC contains a very low and carefully checked quantity of chloroanilines (180 ppm). Such quantity may increase if the product is submitted to high temperatures, in water medium, for a long time. Therefore it is recommended to limit the temperature of exposure of YC-TCC during its incorporation into the finished product.

Toxicological information

LD50 (oral and intraperitoneal)    >10000 mg/kg
Magnusson and Kligman
maximization test (guinea pigs): non-sensitizing

YC-TCC is not a primary skin irritant nor a sensitizer and has a low acute oral toxicity potential.

Transport, storage and handling

Labeling: environmentally hazardous product according to international transport regulations. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long term effects in the aquatic environment. Do not breathe dust and avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water. Store in the original closed containers in a dry cool place. Avoid dust formation.
