STRUKSILON 8023

Application Fields

STRUKSILON 8023 is a universal surfactant for polyurethane rigid foams. It is especially recommended for the use in poor in place and roof sprayfoam applications.

Chemical and Physical Properties

According to its chemical structure STRUKSILON 8023 is a polyether modified polydimethyl siloxane resistant to hydrolysis. Due to the negligible content of hydroxyl or other groups reactive towards isocyanates STRUKSILON 8023 is chemically inert in polyurethane formulations

STRUKSILON 8023 is a clear, colourless to slightly yellow liquid of middle viscosity, has strong surfactant properties and is miscible with water at room temperature.

Technical Properties

Due to its chemical structure STRUKSILON 8023 can be incorporated in A as well as in B-components.

STRUKSILON 8023 is compatible with isocyanate.

Due its excellent stabilising activity STRUKSILON 8023 is especially used in poor in place and roof sprayfoam applications. It is compatible to all common physical blowing agents used in these applications like 141 b, 365 mfc and 245 fa. Also with total water blown systems very good results will be achieved.

Due to its compatibility to all blowing agents, its high stabilising activity and its A as well as B side compatibility, STRUKSILON 8023 offers an extraordinary processing window that allows the use of STRUKSILON 8023 in various formulations. Hence the number of silicon surfactants that are used in different formulations can be reduced or even reduced to the sole use of STRUKSILON 8023.

STRUKSILON 8023 offers excellent emulsification properties in lower functionality polyetherpolyols. In mixtures with polyols of higher functionality or polyesterpolyols slight turbidity may occur especially when used in pentane blown systems. This turbidity neither has an influence on the effectiveness of the surfactant nor are the foam properties affected..

Recommended Dosage

Usually, STRUKSILON 8023 is applied in quantities of 0.5 to 1.5 php (parts on 100 parts polyol). We recommend adjusting the optimum dosage to the corresponding formula. However, a concentration of 3 php should not be exceeded.

Product Safety and Handling

STRUKSILON 8023 is not a hazardous material for the purposes of hazardous materials regulation.

STRUKSILON 8023 does not contain aminic components.

Packaging, Storage and Transport

Storage stability	12 months in closed original containes if transported and stored at a tempreture between 1 and 30 °C.
